Why “Thistle & Thorne”?

In the wild, thorns serve a protective function for their host, keeping their flowers safe so they can flourish and grow to their fullest. “Thorne” references the founder’s last name, (Langthorne), as a reminder of our roots and community. It is also a fitting symbol for the process of acupuncture, itself.

The thistle, also a fairly prickly plant, is both a common weed and medicinal herb with many historical uses. It reminds us that healing does not require extraordinary means; it is found in ordinary places when you know where to look.

The two names together also serve as a reminder that there are uncomfortable aspects of healing and growth, whether that’s taking the step to ask for help or changing old habits.

The mission of Thistle & Thorne is to maintain that protective space so that you feel comfortable in the uncomfortable. We are here to provide community, resources and knowledge to demystify medicine and holistic care. We serve as a reminder that big change can occur in small moments and regular practices.
